‘Wonder Woman’: See The New Trailer With Kristen Wiig As Cheetah
Earlier today during the DC Fandome virtual convention, DC released a new trailer for Wonder Woman 1984, the second film in the Wonder Woman franchise. We got a better look at the film’s villains — Pedro Pascal’s Maxwell Lord and Kristen Wiig’s Barbara Ann Minerva: aka the Cheetah.
Fans have been wondering how Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor is in the film as he (spoiler alert) died in the first Wonder Woman. We learn in the trailer that Maxwell Lord is able to give people their deepest desires: Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince/Wonder Woman’s clearly is to be with Trevor again.
The trailer also shows Wiig as Cheetah, complete with fur and a tail, and happily, most fans on social media say that her look is better than the human/feline hybrids in last year’s box office disaster, Cats.
Wonder Woman 1984 was originally due out in June, but delayed its release due to the coronavirus (as was the case with other major films, including Marvel’s Black Widow, and the live-action Mulan). Now it is scheduled for October 2, 2020.
As with all major movies this summer, “Wonder Woman 1984” left its original June release date in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and is currently scheduled to open on Oct. 2, 2020. Unlike Mulan, which will be available on Disney+, it looks like Wonder Woman 1984 will not be available as video on demand. As Variety reports, director Patty Jenkins said, “We all worked so hard to bring something that would be a big, visual spectacular. So we’re going to stick it out — we believe in putting it in the cinema.”
