I woke up yesterday thinking it was going to be just another normal Tuesday.

Wake up, come to work, and play some classic rock tunes while broadcasting to some of our great WMGK listeners for a bit, and then call it a day and go home.

But then I had a very special surprise guest while I was on-air yesterday, my niece, Lily!

I was so surprised when she came in and it made my day!

As you know from many of my previous posts and stories, Lily has Down Syndrome and she is actually turning 21 years old this coming March!

This girl just amazes me every single day. She works two different jobs. One of which is with the Philadelphia Eagles as a greeter, and she gets to work a few select concerts like the Taylor Swift concert earlier this year where I had the chance to see her in action on the job!

Plus, she is a multi-gold medal winner at the Special Olympics in swimming (check her out winning below), bocce ball, and basketball — her shot is just as good as one of her favorite players, Steph Curry!

Not only is she great at sports herself, but she is also a huge Philadelphia sports fan. She is a five-for-five fan.

She loves the Eagles, Flyers, Phillies, Union, and Sixers, and even got to ring the bell for the 76ers two years ago on Down Syndrome Awareness night. I was so proud!

Yesterday, on her surprise visit, she got to meet John DeBella and wished him well as he retires from radio this Friday after 41 years on the air.

That was not the end of her radio adventure, though!

Next, she went down the hall and jumped on my old station, WMMR, with Jacky Bam Bam, who was in for Pierre. She absolutely crushed it on-air — she was a natural!

Check it out for yourself!

By the way, Lily has a brother named Nate who also has Down Syndrome. He is extremely talented himself!

Just check out his Instagram page, @NateFunkyPics, and take a look at his amazing photography skills!

Anyway, thanks to my sister, Carolyn, for bringing Lily yesterday, and for making me laugh with her funny tweet about Lily meeting JDB!

Work is fun sometimes! You never know what’s coming your way here at WMGK.

Visiting the C&D Canal Bike Trail is a Must Do This Summer

As we all know, Sunday was Father’s Day and I am sure a lot of you guys all got together with your dads and maybe barbecued, enjoyed a nice cold adult beverage or two, and maybe even enjoyed the final round of this year’s U.S. Open, but I did something a little different!

I actually went on a really fun 30-mile bike ride with the girlfriend, my good friend Chris Bozzi, and his 85-year-old dad, Nick!

Can you believe it?

Going on a 30-mile bike ride at the age of 85 years old? It was incredible!

We drove down to Delaware City and rode a beautiful trail called the C&D Canal Bike Trail.

It really is just a gorgeous bike trail that rides along the Delaware Canal and even stretches over multiple states as it starts in Delaware City, Delaware, and ends in Chesapeake City, Maryland.

In total, it stretches 30 miles from one end to the other and back again, and that seems like a lot when you say it out loud, but the trail is so scenic you almost lose track of time and the distance you are going to begin with, to be honest.

Plus, the best part about the trail, especially if you work up an appetite on your ride or walk, is that there is a nice restaurant and bar at the halfway point called Schaefer's Restaurant & Canal Bar, and you better believe we stopped there for a great lunch on our ride!

The trail was great, the lunch was even better, and you could not have asked for better weather on Sunday, so ultimately it was a great day – so much so that I figured I would share a bunch of photos and a video for you all to enjoy as well!

Take a look at them below!
