Philadelphia Is One Of The Funniest Cities In The World
Pennsylvania has certainly been on the receiving end of some ridiculous jokes. But we can dish out the jokes too! Shiny Smile Veneers recently shared the funniest cities in America, and Philadelphia ranked in the top ten.
“Humor tends to be relative and often regional, so we set out to discover which cities in the U.S. are the funniest,” they said.
How does one determine where the funniest places in America are? Well, Shiny Smile Veneers compiled and analyzed an extensive range of data and assigned scores to specific categories. In total, there were five topics identified. They were residents per comedy club, residents per comedy festival, search volume per city and state, residents per comedy special host city, and residents per top comedian’s home state. A point total was assigned to each topic. Shiny Smile Veneers then totaled the points to create the stack ranking.
Philadelphia Comes In At #9
Falling right above New York (#8) and above Denver (#10), Philadelphia is officially one of the funniest cities in the country, according to Shiny Smile Veneers. In fact, the North East makes up half of the top ten funniest states, with New Jersey ranking tenth. Boston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco were the top three funny cities, however New York only edged out Philly by one point. What’s even more fascinating about Philadelphia making the list is that Pennsylvania did not.
If you are wondering what the least funny states in America are, Shiny Smile Veneers report showed that as well. North Dakota only scored a five out of 100, and Wyoming was not much better, totaling just seven points.
As for laughs in Philly, TripAdvisor called out Helium Comedy Club and Punch Line for being the top comedy clubs in the city. In addition, the city has some big names coming to town between now and mid-December. Pete Davidson, Jimmy Carr, Eric Andre, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler all have upcoming shows scheduled here.
To further emphasize Philadelphia’s status as one of the funniest cities in the country, we also have an admirable list of comedians from here. This includes Kevin Hart and the late great Bob Saget.
5 Hottest Personalities in the NFL Right Now
We can talk about the best quarterbacks or coaches or running backs in the NFL until we’re blue in the face. But, what makes the game really exciting to watch are the personalities behind those players and staffers. Of course, having a fun personality isn’t all there is in the NFL. We love watching these guys go at it on the field and witnessing their athleticism. We also love seeing expert coaches leading their teams to victories. But, having a really cool, larger-than-life personality certainly helps. So, what players have the best personalities in the NFL right now?
Before we get to our current list, let’s look at some of the most best personalities in the NFL of all time. Bleacherreport.com has a listicle out of the players with the most colorful personalities of all time. Topping that list is Terrell Owens. “Love him or hate him, T.O. has the most colorful personality,” they state in the article. “Over his career, he’s shown all the qualities: arrogance/confidence, drama (all of 2005 in Philadelphia), excitement, unpredictably, crying (that Tony Romo press conference) and humor.” That’s a good call. Coming in at No. 2 is the legendary Joe Namath. “Who else could get away with wearing sunglasses on the sideline?” they exclaim. “With the long hair, the occasional Fu Manchu and the playboy attitude, he was the most compelling figure in sports during the late 1960s and early 1970s.”
So, what about right now? I looked at the current season and picked a range of roles, from quarterback to coach to tight end. These guys have stood out this season for either their larger-than-life personalities or situations.
