This Sunday is the Eagles Biggest Game Since… Last Sunday
This Sunday is the biggest Eagles game since last Sunday at 4:25pm. Yea. Quick turnaround on big games. The Eagles are still in the middle of an absolutely BRUTAL stretch of their season. Five extremely difficult games all in a row. At Kansas City. Home to Buffalo. Home to San Francisco. At Dallas. At Seattle. Just a murderer’s row of good football teams and difficult stadiums to play in. So far the Eagles have come out on top against the first two teams. Two major wins in 6 days.
Yea the first half of those two games were definitely ugly, but they pulled it together at halftime and pulled it out in the end. Now they have the biggest of these 3 games with the 49ers coming to Lincoln Financial Field this Sunday. The Eagles hold a 2 game lead over the Niners in the NFC. A win here would almost certainly lock up the number one seed and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Overall this 49ers team is probably the best of the five the Eagles will face through this tough stretch. The defense is really good, and the offense is blowing teams out. But looking at the schedule their best win was against the Jacksonville Jaguars. After that the schedule hasn’t been extremely tough. I’m not saying they’re not a good team. They’re extremely good. Good enough that Vegas has them as a 2.5 point underdog.
This is the biggest game the Eagles have had in a whole 7 days. Outside of this being the top 2 teams in the NFC, the Niners have had this game circled on the calendar since last years NFC title game. They’ve been talking since they lost that game because a few of their guys got hurt, including their starting QB. Haason Reddick put it best when asked by KYW about all the talk coming out of San Francisco:
“Talk is cheap. They get to come back in the Linc. It was a lot of boo hoos last year, a lot of crying, a lot of what if, a lot of this, a lot of that. They get a chance to come back in here, line that shit up and prove it again.”
Damn right they do. They might come into the Linc and do just that, but it won’t be an easy win for either team. It feels like a last possession wins type of game. If Jalen Hurts has a chance to win the game on the last possession then Eagles fans have no reason to not feel confident. Am I giving away my Eagles game pick for Pigskin Picks Week 13?
