Every once in a while in my text message with my family, Salisbury steak dinners are brought up. I don't know what brand it was, other than the small plate carrying it was that red and white checkered look. It looked a bit like a picnic table cloth. My brother, sister and I absolutely loved when we were having Salisbury steak! It was the finest of dining for 3 children. If my parents had dressed up like servants we could've been mansion people. That's how much we loved when it was on the menu.

25-30 years later all of us look at what we were actually eating and we're all hard passing on it. The goopy sauce, on top of thin hamburger meat... I mean sheesh. Children's palates don't discriminate. That is obvious by some of the combinations I've seen my kids put together, and the ones I remember putting together when I was their age.

I loved spicy mustard spread on white bread. That's it. Squirt mustard, spread on bread, eat. Bang! Snacktime! That one isn't as gross as Salisbury steak when I think about it as an adult. Yellow mustard would've been a step to far. That stuff is disgusting.

To this day I will put potato chips on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It's not a weird combo, since you eat chips on the side anyway. I don't like chunky peanut butter, but I like the crunch of the chips on my sandwich. It's banging. Try it. While we're on the topic of peanut butter and jelly, take your sandwich game up a notch and make a grilled peanut butter and jelly. Cook it the same way you'd make a grilled cheese.

Make sandwich.

Melt butter in the pan on medium.

Toss in the sandwich.

While the one side cooks, put a few slices of butter on the top (uncooked) slice.

Flip it, and let it cook, just like you would a grilled cheese.

Careful on that first bite. The peanut butter is a little hot at first.

You're welcome!

Here is a whole article about weird foods and combos people ate as kid's from Buzzfeed.

8 Delicious Soup Recipes For Soup Season

Soup recipes have evolved. We're not eating your grandmom's chicken noodle anymore. So here are 8 of the most unique and delicious soup recipes for this soup season.

Innovations in the soup community have made the classic dish a full meal rather than a sad starter. Plain tomato or chicken soup can step aside. The general public has moved past boring broth and uninspired add-ins. These soups are modeled after meals and flavors loved the world over. They eat like a meal and taste amazing. It's truly a modern marvel.

With the phenomenon of what the internet calls "soup szn" (szn = season), what was once one-note is now new and innovative. Soup season begins as early as September and peaks in January when the weather is coldest and souls need healing. After all, when it gets dark THAT early, you need a comforting meal to make up for it.

These recipes are sure to warm you up from the inside. They're filling and creative and stray from the norm. They're meals that the whole family will like and won't garner any eye-rolls or groans. Sometimes it's better to NOT keep it simple.

Here are 8 delicious soup recipes for soup season:
