The Philadelphia 76ers Heartbreaking End To A Fantastic 2023-2024 Season
Well, unfortunately, the 2023-2024 season for the Philadelphia 76ers came to an abrupt, heartbreaking end last night.
The Sixers fell in game six of their seven-game series to the New York Knicks by a score of 118-115, and have officially been eliminated from the NBA playoffs after losing the series 4-2.
Objectively, it was one of the most exciting first-round matchups ever, but it would have been even greater if the 76ers were able to pull out a series win.
Although they fell short, the team battled until the very final second, and this year definitely feels different than past postseason exits.
Joel Embiid still managed to dominate while battling an injured knee and Bell’s Palsy, and Tyrese Maxey elevated himself to superstar status with a legendary game five.
The future’s still bright Sixers fans.
Oh, and if you ever wondered what it was like for me on game day down at the center, the day in the life video Maniac Malloy and Park did for me just came out!
The Stars Were Out To See The 76ers…
As for last night, the stars were definitely out for the big game.
If you don’t believe me, check out the Sixers’ Instagram post with some of the big names in attendance!
I told you I wasn’t lying!
Phillies players, Eagles players, and even Bradley Cooper made an appearance, who said he was hoping for a game 7.
Plus, there were not as many Knicks fans in the arena as there were for games three and four — so that’s a huge positive to stay away from them!
Brandon Marsh and Alex Bohm rang the pregame bell to hype up the crowd.
Also, Saquon Barkley, AJ Brown, Quinyon Mitchell, and Cooper DeJean all made appearances for the Birds.
Although the home team didn’t win, they definitely got their money’s worth.
A Heartbreaking Ending…
After being down 20 points in the 1st quarter, the 76ers battled all the way back to take the lead.
They undoubtedly played their hearts out and left it all out there in the hardwood.
Unfortunately, they lost in the final seconds when Josh Hart hit a go-ahead three-pointer with mere seconds left.
I am super bummed after being eliminated from the playoffs early for the seventh year in a row.
As I mentioned earlier though, it was possibly one of the best first-round series in NBA Playoff history.
All we can do is tip our caps to the Knicks and wish them luck in the next round.
I don’t dislike them — probably because of all the Nova guys on the roster.
As for the Knicks’ fans, I can’t stand them!
I hope they sat in a lot of traffic on the way back to New York.
Anyway, I can’t wait to get back to it next year and to see what they do with all the cap space this offseason.
It should be fun!
Go 76ers!
