Museum of the American Revolution Plans Winter Break Activities for Families
The Museum of the American Revolution, 101 S. Third St., invites Philadelphia-area families to explore hands-on activities, in-gallery talks, and a special exhibition during the upcoming winter break.
Visit Revolutionary Place, the museum’s discovery center, and step back into history during the winter of 1778. Experience what Revolutionary War soldiers lived through as they struggled to survive. This unique exhibition includes details like frost-covered windows, logs by the fire, and a display of 18th-century clothing.
In Revolution Place, kids can participate in make-and-take craft projects such as tin-punch lanterns, cookie mold ornaments, and cut-paper snowflakes.
During the weekends of Dec. 21-22 and Dec. 28-29, a living historian will engage visitors in a presentation focusing on the life of Continental Army soldier Joseph Plumb Martin, a teenager who served under Gen. George Washington.
The winter break will also be guests’ last chance to explore “Witness to Revolution: The Unlikely Travels of Washington’s Tent,” which closes for exhibition on Jan. 5, 2025. Museum staff will offer 10-minute talks in the exhibition area that explain the history and significance of Washington’s tent.
