Delaware State Fair Announces Concert Acts for 10-Day Summer Event
The Delaware State Fair has revealed its complete music lineup for this summer’s event in Harrington, running July 17-26, with a mix of current country stars and popular 90s rock bands headlining the shows.
Hot country star Riley Green takes the stage July 19, while fan favorites Blues Traveler, Spin Doctors, and Gin Blossoms team up July 21. “His popularity continues to grow… His shows are continuing to sell out and he’s moving into bigger arenas, and we’re very fortunate to be able to maybe just get him one more year before he moves into the larger arena tours,” said General Manager Danny Aguilar to Delaware Public Radio.
The main stage closes with Big and Rich alongside Russell Dickerson. Besides music, guests can enjoy exciting rides, delicious food vendors, and interactive farm exhibits.
Back in 1919, a group of locals gathered near Harrington’s railroad tracks to showcase their crops and livestock. The event kept growing until 1962, when it officially became the Delaware State Fair.
The fairgrounds have quite a history. During World War II, German POWs were housed here. In 1946, the site made state history by launching harness racing betting.
At its heart, the fair celebrates farming. Kids and grownups can check out animal shows and learn about where their food comes from through hands-on exhibits.
“We want them to take an opportunity to go in and see our livestock exhibits, talk to the exhibitors, get a taste of the agricultural and livestock roots here – celebrating all things in Delaware,” Aguilar said.
This huge event changes Harrington. Local businesses adjust their hours during fair week, letting employees enjoy the fun.
Guests shouldn’t miss the famous Budweiser Clydesdales or the thrilling carnival rides. “We certainly want to make sure we have a diverse offering. So we feel that package is going to be very entertaining for fairgoers,” Aguilar noted.
