Pennsylvania and New Jersey Halloween Things to Do
Halloween is almost here, and it’s a fun time to embrace the spooky season and celebrate all things haunted. Of course, you can make it as scary or not-so-scary as you wish. Plenty of people, myself included, absolutely love Halloween but aren’t into getting to freaked out. Then, there’s also the Halloween enthusiasts who absolutely love going to haunted houses and getting scared silly. So, whether you want to have a frightening holiday or play it safe, there are some things to do.
Halloween Things to Do
Pennsylvania, New Jersey Attractions
If you want to celebrate the season out and about, there are a lot of great local Halloween events. As for haunted houses, the experts at Visit Philly recommend the legendary Lincoln Mill Haunted House at 4100 Main Street in Philadelphia. The story of this haunt, they explain, “is a spine-chilling tale of bodies “discovered” in a secret basement chamber after flooding from Hurricane Ida in 2021, uncovering the mill’s dark and gruesome past.” In New Jersey, try the famed 13th Hour Haunted House, located at 105 W Dewey Avenue in Wharton.
Another option is Philly’s glittering labyrinth on Friday, Oct., offering “a night of entertainment during the season’s final Twilight in the Gardens. The evening features a live audio-visual performance by musical duo Corey Bernhard + Sanche Ramírez with help from Luminous Abstract.” This event is at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens at 1020 South Street in Philly.
What if you want to party? That’s great, because the Deadly Silent Disco Party is back on Friday, Oct. 25. Wear a Halloween costume or all-black attire. The party is at Peddler’s Village at 100 Peddlers Village in Lahaska. It’s about an hour north of Philly.
Stay Home and Carve a Pumpkin
If you don’t want to go out there and fight the crowds, as they say, you can always stay home and do a Halloween activity with friends or family. Many people have Halloween traditions of carving pumpkins. I used to do this but haven’t in a long time. Carving pumpkins is a great activity for kids, but it can be fun for adults, too. You can switch up the designing by having everyone carve their favorite sports team logo or even band logo. It would be difficult to carve a death metal band logo into a pumpkin, though. Have you seen those logos? If so, you know what I’m saying. Either way, pumpkin carving is a super fan activity for many. Contact me with your favorite Halloween activities.
