The Office: Every Characters’ Spin-Off Show

With the writer’s strike ending after five months, our favorite TV shows and movies will return to our streaming services. With this being said, The Office U.S. creator, Greg Daniels revealed that he will create a spin-off of the 9-season series after the strike ends. Fans are eager to know what character the series will follow.

Just A Reboot?

Although the series ended in 2013, The Office is still maintaining the same hype it had when it was on air. The cast still keeps in touch and even has dinners with each other. Jenna Fischer (Pam Beasley) and Angela Kinsey (Angela Martin) created a highly successful Office Re-watch podcast, The Office Ladies. The women dive into each episode to tell stories from the show, even bringing former cast members on as guests.

Filming Style

A logistical question would be how Greg Daniels plans on filming the series. He is known for his documentary style with shows like The Office and Parks & Rec. Will it follow the mockumentary style from the original series with the former camera crew? This theory makes the most sense to return to Scranton. It’s possible that the fictionary documentary team had a lot of success with their original film. So much so, that they decided to go back and follow a new group of employees.

The Office Spin-off

It does seem unlikely that the Show Creator Greg Daniels will use an original player from The Office as the main character in the spin-off. We are so far removed from their lives at this point, that it’s still fun to think about what their stories would look like.

Check out what I think each character’s spin-off series would look like. My qualifications for making these opinions consist of re-watching the series from start to finish twice a year since its finale. *Spoilers ahead*

  • Jim & Pam Halper

split screen of the actors who played Jim & Pam on'The Office'
In the series finale, Pam secretly sells their house so she and Jim can move to Texas for his dream job. This seems like an unlikely spin-off due to the couple being so far away from the rest of the show’s characters.

Although it would be interesting to see how successful Jim’s company is now and how their two daughters are doing.

  • Dwight and Angela Shrute

    'The Office' Characters' Spin-off
There’s no doubt that Dwight and Angela had more children after their baby boy. They most likely live and work on Shrute Farms full time, hopefully, cousin Mose has moved out by now. Maybe their spin-off will be called, “The Farm.” Oscar Martinez is their firstborn’s Godfather, so I hope that he still keeps in touch with the Shrute’s.

*Correction: NBC planned for Dwight to have a spin-off called “The Farm.” It did not get picked up by the network.

  • Andy Bernard

Actor Ed Helms attends the premiere of "Vacation"

The Nard-dog did not have a happy ending like everyone else in the show. He went on to become an unsuccessful actor and was publicly embarrassed on the internet for crying at an audition. However, he did get hired in the Admissions Office at Cornell. It’s possible that he’s married with children, and living a happy life, but I don’t see his character receiving an entire sitcom.

  • Oscar Martinez

Oscar Nunez attends the Los Angeles premiere of AMC Network's "Lucky Hank"
It was revealed that Oscar ran for State Senator in the series finale. There’s a possibility that his spin-off would be another workplace comedy centered around politics. I wouldn’t be too thrilled to see this as the spin-off, but I hope that Oscar is happy and makes a return.

  • Meredith Palmer

Kate Flannery poses at the IMDb Portrait Studio during the 15th Annual Women In Film Oscar Nominees Party
I’d like to imagine that Meredith has not changed at all because her character was hilarious. Although every other character grows and evolves by the end of the series, there is no way that Meredith Palmer has transformed. The character reveals in the series finale that she received her Ph.D. in Psychology. A possible storyline for a spin-off?

  • Phyllis and Bob Vance

Phyllis Smith attends Netflix's "The OA Part II" Premiere Photo Call at LACMA

Unpopular opinion: Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration and Phyllis were couple goals. Bob protected and cared for Phyllis during times when Michael took away her Santa privileges, when she was flashed, or anytime the “doofuses” (Michael, Dwight, or Andy) annoyed her.

Maybe their spin-off would consist of the same office sitcom as Dunder Mifflin, but this time it takes place at Vance Refrigeration.

  • Michael and Holly Scott

'The Office' Characters' Spin-off split screen of Steve Carell and costar
This is the dream spin-off, right? What are Michael and Holly up to in Colorado? In the series finale, it was revealed that they had children. Maybe their spin-off would take place in their home, revolving around Michael finally being a dad.

With Steve Carrell’s success in TV dramas such as The Morning Show and The Patient, this seems like an unlikely spin-off. Fingers crossed for a guest appearance!

  • Erin Hannon

'The Office' Characters' Spin-off Ellie Kemper

Erin, played by actress Ellie Kemper, starred in her own series right after The Office ended – Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Her character in that was very similar to Erin Hannon’s personality. I do not see her character having their own spin-off, but I would like to know if she is still the receptionist at Dunder Mifflin.

  • Ryan and Kelly

B.J. Novak and Mindy Kaling attend the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

This spin-off would be complete chaos. Despite Ryan and Kelly running off together at Dwight and Angela’s wedding, I do not believe that they have matured enough to be in a healthy relationship with each other, or anyone for that. Ryan would probably be lying, working a dead-end job, somewhere outside of Scranton.

Even though the spin-off might not be centered around these characters, B.J. Novak and Mindy Kaling were writers on the original series, so there’s a chance they would make a guest appearance in the spin-off.

  • Creed Bratton

Creed Bratton arrives at 'The Office' series finale wrap party

I have very high hopes that the spin-off is about Creed’s life before we meet him at Dunder Mifflin. Throughout the series, Creed reveals the craziest, unhinged facts about himself. It would be incredible to see his origin story. I’m really rooting for this one.

  • Stanley

Leslie David Baker attends the premiere of "Bad Teacher"

I have to admit, Stanley’s spin-off wouldn’t have enough meat to it. In the series finale, it’s revealed that Stanley has retired from Dunder Mifflin. He moved to Florida and now carves out wooden birds. He seems happy, but it’s a mundane life. I wonder if he makes the trip up to Dunder Mifflin every year for Pretzel Day.

  • Toby

Paul Lieberstein arrives at 'The Office' series finale wrap party

Michael Scott and I both agreed that this cannot happen. Viewers would die of boredom.
