Their new album, “Hackney Diamonds,” is set to release on October 20th, and it features guest stars like Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, and Elton John.
Like I said, The Stones are easily one of my all-time favorite bands, so you know I am pumped to get a copy of this record and to give the loyal WMGK listeners a chance to win a copy for themselves on The Matt Cord Show With Steve Vassalotti.

Rolling Stones: What We Know About Their New Album
The Rolling Stones are currently teasing a new album. Their official website now has a landing page featuring the phrase "Welcome to Hackney Diamonds." On top of that, it features a countdown clock that's set to expire on Wednesday, September 6 at 9:30 a.m. EST.
While anything new from the Stones is big news, there's a big unanswered question: What do we even know about this LP? Fortunately, we've done some digging from our reporting from the past year. This led us to put together the list below, chronicling everything about this very mysterious album.
From potential guest appearances to behind-the-scenes details and everything in between, here are five things we know about the new Rolling Stones album.
Its title
As previously reported, the title of the new Stones album is Hackney Diamonds. Earlier this month, an unusual ad was printed in the Hackney Gazette, a local newspaper in England. The ad is for a "business" called Hackney Diamonds, which touts itself as "Specialists in Glass Repair." Additionally, the ad says the "business" is opening in September 2023. Furthermore, the ad states, "Our friendly team promises you satisfaction. When you say gimme shelter, we'll fix your shattered windows."
As if that weren't enough, a small Rolling Stones tongue and lips logo is visible in the ad. Also, when you search for "Hackney Diamonds," you find a website that's registered with the band's label Universal Music Group. Also, various Stones logos promoting the "Hackney Diamonds" website are showing up all over the world.
The album features Charlie Watts
Ronnie Wood shared that the band was working on new music, some of which would feature late drummer Charlie Watts. [inlink id="rolling-stones-new-lp-in-the-works-to-feature-charlie-watts" text="He told The Sun in November 2022"], "We are recording the new album now, and we are going to LA in a few weeks to carry it on and finish it off. Charlie is on some of the tracks and drummer Steve Jordan." Watts, of course, [inlink id="charlie-watts-iconic-rolling-stones-drummer-dies-at-80" text="died in August 2021 at age 80"].
There's a good chance a tour is in the works.
In January, Keith Richards [inlink id="keith-richards-theres-some-new-music-on-its-way" text="told fans via social media"], "There's some new music on its way, and hopefully, I'll get to see you. Anyway, let's keep our fingers crossed." (Side note: This clip was shared on January 11 and also served as Keef's way of wishing fans a belated Happy New Year, which kind of rules.)
Paul McCartney is confirmed for an appearance...and maybe Ringo Starr, too.
In February, there was quite a stir when [inlink id="paul-mccartney-ringo-starr-reportedly-on-new-rolling-stones-lp" text="Variety"] reported that Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were appearing on the new Stones LP. It was later confirmed by [inlink id="paul-mccartney-appearance-on-new-rolling-stones-lp-confirmed" text="CNN"] that Sir Paul plays bass "on just one RS track." While Ringo Starr was also reported as appearing on the album, the Stones rep said he is not on the track with McCartney. The rep didn't detail whether Starr is on the album elsewhere.
Andrew Watt is rumored to be producing the album
In addition to the Macca and Ringo news, [inlink id="paul-mccartney-ringo-starr-reportedly-on-new-rolling-stones-lp" text="Variety"] also reported the new Stones album is going to be produced by Andrew Watt. The 32-year-old producer is very young to be working with such legends. However, Watt notably produced Ozzy Osbourne's last two albums, Eddie Vedder's 2022 solo album Earthling and Iggy Pop's 2023 album Every Loser. Watt's also been in the studio with Pearl Jam as they work on new music.
