Detroit Lions Are the Philadelphia Eagles’ Biggest Threat – Here’s Why
There was a time when the above headline would have been seen as a total joke. “The Detroit Lions are the Philadelphia Eagles’ biggest threat.” But, today is a new day, and this is a “Brand New Lions,” as they say in Detroit.
Now, the Detroit Lions are climbing the NFC rankings, right behind the Eagles at No. 1. Here’s why.
The Detroit Lions Are the Philadelphia Eagles’ Biggest Threat in the NFC
The Philadelphia Eagles are 8-1, as they head into this Monday’s big game against the Kansas City Chiefs. This team is special and solid, with Jalen Hurts at the helm. But, there’s a lot of football left this season, and they can’t take anything for granted. The San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys both scored wins over the weekend. But, both teams have also been shakier than the Detroit Lions thus far this season. Also, the Lions looked solid on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers. Sure, their defense was a bit off at time, but they went up against star quarterback Justin Herbert and his four touchdowns and pulled off a road win.
Now, the Detroit Lions are 7-2. They’re armed with quarterback Jared Goff. They also have an incredible running back duo in David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. And they have receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who performed some of his best football against the Chargers, and rookie Sam LaPorta, who is performing very well this season. What’s more, the Lions finished last season winning eight of their last 10 games, so they’re used to finishing off seasons strong. Head coach Dan Campbell seems to have instilled a positive culture in this team that translates on the field.
The Eagles are still favorites to win the NFC and go to the Super Bowl. But, more and more, it’s looking like the Eagles will have to go up against the dream team that is the Detroit Lions this postseason.
