Pennsylvania City Ranks One of the Best for Gen Z
For many years, the millennial generation was all the rage. Every study that seemed to surface was about millennials and how they related to today’s world. Now, millennials have to step aside, because Gen Z is getting some love.
Gen Z is currently considered those born between 1997 and 2012. I say currently, because these windows of time often evolve as the years go on. At least, that’s been the case with the Millennial generation and Gen X, where the years born kept changing. A new study was conducted geared towards Gen Z, knowing that this generation is now entering the workforce. One city in Pennsylvania made the cut and ranked inside the top 15, which is a pretty good sign it’s a good city for young workers.
The study was conducted by commercial real estate blog Commercial Café. They put together a list of the largest cities in the U.S. and rated each on Gen Z-geared metrics such “percentage of Gen Zers of the total population;” “Gen Z educational enrollment;” and “composite cost of living.” The final result has Philadelphia named the No. 13 best city for Gen Z in the country. It was the only Pennsylvania city inside the top 20. The top five cities for Gen Z are, starting at No. 1: Raleigh, N.C.; Tucson, Ariz.; Boston, Mass.; Minneapolis, Minn.; and Atlanta, Ga.
“Notably, the majority of the best cities for this generation are concentrated in the Northeast, Midwest, and Southwest,” the study states. “Moreover, our list features both affordable options with low unemployment, as well as larger cities boasting a variety of entertainment options, lightning-fast internet and highly educated Gen Z populations.” Find the full study here.
