Interviewing The Legendary Peter Frampton At The Old MMR Studios, Plus Your Chance To Win Some Tickets
Let’s take a trip down memory lane to a time when Pierre Robert, Earl Bailey, and I all posed for a picture with the legendary Peter Frampton.
Of course, everybody knows Peter Frampton and most music lovers in the city know Pierre Robert, but Ealt Bailey is another great name to know.
Earl was a former news anchor at MMR. In fact, he was actually my news guy when I hosted mornings on MMR from 1997-1998 with the great Kevin Gunn producing.
Anyway, this picture was captured years ago at the old MMR studios at 5th and Market in Philly.
We actually shared this building with KYW 1060am and Channel 3 News on television.
On this day in particular, Pierre and I co-interviewed Peter Frampton, and he was the best!
I brought up the time I saw him perform in concert with Yes, Gary Wright, and the Pousette-Dart Band.
Peter Frampton In Concert…
Come to think of it, I can’t believe it was nearly 50 years ago back on June 12th, 1976!
The show took place at the great JFK Stadium, and you’ll never guess how much tickets cost to this show.
Tickets that day were $9.52 with a city tax of 48 cents to bring that total up to a whopping $10 even.
I’m still not sure how I afforded it, to this day.
Funnily enough, the show was promoted as five bands at JFK, but, as I mentioned, only four prominent bands were actually booked.
So, naturally being in Philly, they brought out some members of the Mummers to play in between Pousette-Dart Band and Gary Wright to make it five bands.
I actually felt bad for the Mummers that day as they got coolers and shoes thrown at them for not quite being the fifth band concertgoers envisioned when they purchased their tickets.
Anyway, I bring up this whole story to tell you about a chance you have to win some tickets to see Peter Frampton in concert yourself!
Yes, all week, I will be giving away tickets to see Peter Frampton during my Connect 3 contest at 9 a.m.
The show will be on September 29th at The Met.
So, please tune in if you can, and maybe you could be the lucky winner!
