It’s pretty crazy to think how many years we had the comfort that from 7p-8p on ABC we would see Pat Sajak and Alex Trebek. There really is a comfort in knowing you would see familiar faces. So many people had memories of watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy with their grandparents, then parents, and now their own kids. During times when they are so many ways to consume content whether it’s streaming, social media, DVR, or the internet in general, ratings for Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy continued to do well. It’s also pretty crazy to think that Alex Trebek and Pat Sajak didn’t do anything else. What a cushy job! Here at 7 celebrities Wheel of Fortune reportedly narrowed down to replace Pat Sajak as host.

We were all a little surprised this week when Pat Sajak announced he will be retiring from hosting Wheel of Fortune after the 2024 season. Pat, who’s 76, has presided over the gameshow since 1981. He took over duties from Chuck Woolery, who was the show’s first host when it debuted in 1975. Although at 76 years old you can’t blame him for wanting to enjoy a little of his retirement.

Fun Fact, when I was on The Biggest Loser, Bob Guzzi was our cue card holder. Our host was Alison Sweeney and he did cue cards for her, Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels. Bob is from Wilkes Barre and also has done the cue cards for Wheel of Fortune for over 20 years! He writes them and prints them out himself and even has a special printer!

Everyone is now wondering, who is going to take over Pat’s spot. Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik have done a great job as the hosts of Jeopardy, do we think they would have two hosts of Wheel of Fortune? I know everyone seems to want Vanna White to do it, but can Vanna leave the letters? So much to think about. All I know is that it better now be someone on the list. He’s on TV way too much!

  • Maggie Sajak

Yep, Pat’s daughter who has been a presence on the show for a few years now.

  • Vanna White

  • Whoopi Goldberg

Yep, the legend herself and current View co-host. Whoopi is familiar with game shows, she served as both a producer and the center square on Hollywood Squares from 1998 to 2004.

  • Ryan Seacrest

Honestly, this idea is awful. Ryan already is everywhere, has so many jobs, give someone else a chance!

  • Raven-Symoné

Raven came into fame as Olivia, who stone the show on The Cosby Show. She’s been on a bunch of different game shows, not to mention she’s young and fun and could pull in a new audience that Wheel of Fortune doesn’t have.

  • Wayne Brady

He’s awesome and has done some really great TV, but he just signed on to star in the Broadway revival of The Wiz so not sure he will be able to do Wheel of Fortune.

  • LeVar Burton

Wheel of Fortune is just as iconic at Reading Rainbow so it makes sense.
