This is sad—Red Lobster Philadelphia area locations to close amid bankruptcy. We are fortunate because there aren’t too many. If you look at the list, there are other 30 locations in Florida set to close. Red Lobster said that it had more than $1 billion in debt and less than $30 million in cash on hand.
The good thing with bankruptcy is that it doesn’t necessarily mean all restaurants are closing. A lot of times they close some locations, readjust, and figure out how to keep the rest of the locations afloat. Red Lobster does plan to sell its business to its lenders, and in turn, it will receive financing to stay afloat. Part of its plan is to close some locations of its nearly 600 restaurants in the meantime.
It’s interesting how growing up, Red Lobster was considered fancy. I grew up about an hour away from the Lehigh Valley and going to Red Lobster was very special. This also comes on the heels of clothing store Express announced they also filed for bankruptcy and are closing a bunch of stores.
Check out the list below of the area Red Lobster locations that are reportedly closing. Looks like there are few who are still open. Cherry Hill, NJ. Allentown, PA. King of Prussia, PA just to name a few. So there’s still hope to get some fresh Cheddar Bay Biscuits.
