This weekend, MGK celebrates the 50th anniversary of The Doors, ‘Light My Fire’ hitting #1.  With the song vaulting up the charts, The Doors were asked to play Ed Sullivan in 1967.
Less than an hour before they went on, they were asked by one of the show’s producers to change the line ‘Girl, we couldn’t get much HIGHER’ to ‘Girl, we couldn’t get much BETTER’.  There’s a few different depictions and explanations as to what happened next, as members of The Doors and the Sullivan Show gave different accounts. Hear what Ray Manzarek remembers, see the actual footage & how The Doors movie depicted the event.
