We rarely hear The Edge talk for extended sgements, so it's a real treat when you can hear him expound on something he's really passionate about.
There's perhaps no greater compliment to a guitarist than when a manufacturer creates a signature model guitar in their name. When that manufacturer happens to be Fender, then it's really special.
That's what U2's The Edge, who celebrates his birthday today is experiencing with his Signature Stratocaster and Deluxe Amplifier, which is now available. (See photos and the mini-documentary below.)
“The Stratocaster is one of those instruments I have always had a strong connection with. To me it has a raw tonal personality that inspires innovation and discovery. As a creative tool it continues to drive my writing and guitar playing,” said The Edge. “Working with Fender and their Custom Shop over the last two years, we have been able to refine the design of my signature guitar and amplifier to a place that matches as close to humanly possible the sound I hear in my head.”
