The Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards, Heart’s Ann Wilson, ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, Steely Dan’s Donald Fagan & more took the stage at New York City’s Beacon Theater for the 2nd Annual Love Rock NYC! benefit concert. The on stage line-ups featured rock luminaries jamming with musicians from other genres (Norah Jones, Gary Clarke & more) as well as famous atheltes such as John McEnroe and Bernie Williams, both of whom played guitar.
The backing band the stars played along with was headed up by Paul Shaffer and featured Will Lee on Bass, Steve Gadd on Drums.
Proceeds from the benefit went to God’s Love We Deliver, an organization who prepares and delivers, “nutritious, high-quality meals to people who, because of their illness, are unable to provide or prepare meals for themselves.” Food deliveries by God’s Love We Deliver are free of charge. The organization also “provides illness-specific nutrition education and counseling to our clients, families, care providers and other service organizations.” They’ve delivered over 20 million meals. It’s been reported that the concert raised over 2 million dollars.
