A Lot Has Happened Since the National League’s Last MLB All-Star Game Win
Yesterday was the first time since 2012 that the National League won the MLB All-Star game. That sentence sounds almost impossible. It’s been 11 years since they picked up a win against the American League players, but it finally happened. Two Phillies players had a hand in the win which makes it even better. The crazier thing is this kind of losing streak has happened to the NL before. Between 1997 & 2009, the American League went 12-0-1. There was a tie in the 2002 MLB All-Star Game because both teams ran out of pitchers after 11 innings. In the most recent 10 year AL win streak a lot has happened in the world. Let’s take a look at some of the world events, historic moments, inventions, etc since the National League’s last All-Star Game win.
2012
The Curiousity Rover succesfully lands on Mars.
Gagnam Style by South Korean popstar Psy was the first YouTube video to reach 1billions views.
A croissant had sex with a donut and birthed the delicious Cronut.
2013
Pope Frank is elected. The first from the Americas, the southern hemisphere, and first Jesuit pope.
Nelson Mandela passed away.
The Ring doorbell is created. It was passed by all the judges on Shark Tank. A few years later Amazon bought it for $1 Billion.
2014
Disappearance of Flight MH370. We lost a whole damn airplane. One of the biggest mysteries in history, the Malaysia Airlines plane just vanished. The flight left Kuala Lumpur destined for Beijing.
The Ice Bucket Challenge took over social media to bring awareness to the fight against ALS.
Moviegoers and comedy fans were shocked to hear about the death of Robin Williams.
The world got selfie sticks.
2015
The world learns of FIFA’s (international soccer’s governing body) corruption.
Greece went bankrupt.
United States legalised same-sex marriage across all 50 states. Ireland, Finland, Greenland, Colombia, Malta, Australia, Germany, Austria, Taiwan and Ecuador all followed.
SpaceX reusable Rocket is created.
2016
Harambe is shot and killed at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden in an incident involving a child and becomes a meme, also Ds out for Harambe.
Countries agreed to try to fight climate change. People have continued to argue about it since.
Great Britain left the European Union. They’re still thinking about getting back in.
Cubs won the world series for the first time since 1908.

Fidget spinners debuted.
2018
Elton John started his final tour.
The Philadelphia Eagles won their first Super Bowl Championship. Nothing else mattered in 2018.
2019
Astronomers captured the first ever photo of a black hole.
United States Space Force is founded.

The world shut down due to COVID-19

All of this happened because the National League just couldn’t win an all star game until yesterday. Imagine how history might have been different if they could just have sucked less.

The city fountains are well represented at the home of the Royals. The fountains in outfield are 322 feet wide. They can change colors and offer a magnificent display.
