Ricci’s Hoagies Is a Must Try While In South Philadelphia
Right here in the Delaware Valley, we debate a lot of things on a daily basis. Will the Eagles win the Super Bowl, what Wawa location is the best, why didn’t they add a third lane to the blue route? You know, the necessities of life.
Though, the thing that may be debated the most in this area is which place makes the best hoagies.
I know everyone has their favorite and there are a ton of really good spots all over the greater Philadelphia area, so it is hard to crown an official champion.
With that being said, I have a great spot for you to try out in Philly if you love hoagies — and let’s not kid ourselves, you probably do love hoagies!
The place is called Ricci’s Hoagies.
Ricci’s is a great mom-and-pop shop located at 1165 South 11th Street in South Philly, and it has been open for over 100 years. Just imagine all the things that have happened in our great city since Ricci’s Hoagies first opened its doors.
With a history that long, you know they know their way around making a hoagie or two! I guess that’s why they have the perfect setup for you when you order your hoagie.
When you order at Ricci’s, they slice the meat right in front of you as you build your own hoagie. It is almost like an assembly line while you are crafting your perfect sandwich. Whether you like hot peppers, sweet peppers, pickles, provolone cheese, American cheese, you name it, Ricci’s Hoagies has everything needed to make your hoagie the way you want it.
Plus, the staff is extremely friendly and they are very efficient and fast, so you have your order ready in no time.
They open at 9 a.m. for all my local people, and for all my people that moved away from Philly, they also ship anywhere in the states, so you can have a taste of Philly at your doorsteps anywhere in the USA!
So what are you waiting for, go try Ricci’s Hoagies and let me know what you think!

Delaware Beaches Are Nice Change Up From The Jersey Shore
Over the last week, I did a lot of fun things while away from the WMGK studio. As I wrote about yesterday, I was down the shore for a bit in New Jersey and had a great meal over at Twisties Tavern on the Bay. However, the Jersey Shore was not the only place I visited on vacation.
The other place I went definitely some similarities to the Jersey Shore, like, sharing the same ocean and all, but there are also some cool differences at this place. If you have not guessed by now, I also hit up Rehoboth and Dewey this week!
I love the Delaware beach towns and overall there is a totally different feel to them than that of the Jersey Shore towns – but don’t get me wrong, I love both and each has their own unique characteristics about them!
While there, we took a nice 30-mile bike ride around Lewes, Cape Henlopen Park, North Shore, Rehoboth Beach, and Dewey Beach. Myself, Pattyann, Marisa Magnatta, plus her husband and my friend, Matt Lindenmuth, all had a great time on the ride!
We also went out for a boat ride on the Indian River Inlet to Paradise Beach Bar and then had a bite to eat at Dewey Beer Co. By the way, Matt is one of the main brewers there and has a deep knowledge of beers. Plus, he has a pretty good basketball hat game, like myself, so I scored a couple of cool Dewey Beer snapbacks. I was stoked!
Overall, I had an amazing time down at the Delaware Beaches!
As I said, I am definitely a Jersey Shore guy, but the Delaware Beaches are a nice change up from my normal summer routine! There are definitely a lot more options as far as retail goes, and more Wawas, so who could complain about that? Also, I can’t forget to mention that they are a lot more bicycle friendly.
I can’t wait to head back down again to see what’s in store next!
