Pennsylvania A Top 10 Most Charitable State
According to a new survey done by WalletHub, Pennsylvania is in the top 10 of states in terms of how much we give to charity. The states were ranked from a score of 19 factors in two main categories. The two are volunteering and service and charitable giving. The top 5 states were Utah, Wyoming, Minnesota, Maryland and Maine. The 6th and 7th spots were taken by two Delaware Valley states, Delaware and Pennsylvania. We know firsthand at MGK how charitable the Philadelphia area is.
For years with JDB we did the Turkey Drop the Tuesday before Thanksgiving to help City Team Philadelphia get holiday meals on the table for families that need it. We’re going to continue that tradition with Matt Cord hosting the WMGK Turkey Drop this year. It will once again take place on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, November 21st. Matt and I will once again be broadcasting in front of the Kimmel Center on Broad St. from 6am-10am. We will continue collecting donations on-site until noon. Thanks to our Partners at ACME Markets, we will have collection locations at participating ACME locations. You can find more details and the entire list of ACME Markets here.
The Turkey Drop isn’t the only charitable event here at MGK that shows off the giving spirit of our area. In the spring we have our Veterans Radiothon benefiting the Veterans Multi-Service Center. The VMC helps returning servicemen and women acclimate to civilian life while also working to end veteran homelessness. Our sister stations WMMR have their annual Campout for Hunger, WXTU does their annual radiothon for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and BEN FM hosts the Adopt a Family Radiothon. So many charity events from our cluster alone and the Philadelphia audience never ceases to amaze with their generosity.
If you feel so inclined, you can make a secure online donation right now for the WMGK Turkey Drop to help put food on the table for a family in the area that needs it. Happy Thanksgiving!
