You’ll find them at our upcoming MGK Locals Only Beer Festival on April 21 at Independence Seaport Museum. Tickets are on sale now and selling fast.
We’ll be highlighting each brewery participating in our event on wmgk.com with our Locals Only Spotlight feature. You’ll get a feel for what drives them to make delicious craft beer and most importantly what tasty offerings they’ll be serving up on April 21.
What They’re Serving
Each brewer will serve up a Flagship beer (a beer they’re well known for) & a Specialty/reserve beer. Attendees will get to vote for their favorite beer in each category.
Flagship Beer Category – Churchville Lager (4.9% ABV)
Pennsylvania breweries are known for world-class lagers, and this 2013 Great American Beer Fest Gold Medal winning Vienna-style, no fuss amber lager is clean, crisp, and brewed with Munich, and Vienna malts that give it a touch of malt backbone and toast-like character. Hopped exclusively with German Tettnanger hops, it’s got enough hop bitterness to counter that malt backbone as well.
Specialty Beer Category – The Shape Of Hops To Come ( 8.5% ABV)
“Can I scream….” for more hops? You sure can. Two row American barley jammed packed with as much Apollo, Newport, Simcoe, Topaz, and Citra hops we could get our hands on, The Shape of Hops to Come has a ton of bitterness, along with juicy, dank resiny pine-like, and citrus forward hop character that is worthy of it’s name. Dry hopped for two weeks this hop bomb has as much hop power we can muster!
What They’re All About
The company was founded in 2010 and their Croydon brewery opened two years later in 2012. Their Croydon location also includes a Taproom that sells drafts and cans. Their latest outpost, The Borough Brewery opened its doors in Jenkintown last Spring.
They’re not just winning fans in the tri-state area, they’ve brought home a Gold and Bronze medal at The Great Amercian Beer Fest (GABF) for their Churchville Lager. They also took home some hardware at the GABF for their Croydon Is Burning Smoked Lager.
They’ll be releasing their first session IPA KEEP IT ON THE DL in April of 2018.
Events For The Community
