Is bringing a 5 year old to Hooters bad parenting?
Mind your damn business people.
A story is going viral about a mom and dad bringing their 5 year old son to Hooters for his birthday. NY Post story here.
People are outraged, because of course they are. Probably like 6 people on the internet. These whiners either don’t have kids, or are so far removed from having children that age that they have forgotten how many ridiculous requests that child may have made for where they wanted to go on their birthday. For all we know this kid loves sweat socks! At 5 years old you aren’t there to see cleavage in tight white shirts, and legs in booty shorts. That’s why your weird Uncle Craig goes. At 5, you want some poorly prepared chicken, french fries and maybe a soda if your parents are wild.
We talked about this today we and got a resounding “not bad parenting” response from our listeners. We even had a listener text us this morning saying that his parents took him and his brother to Hooters when they were little because they begged to go. They begged to go because they loved the owl logo. They were extremely disappointed to find out that there were no actual owls in the restaurant. Can you imagine the hell those kids put their parents through asking to go to this house of owls?
This is not bad parenting. This is SURVIVAL. This child has seen more skin at the pool, lake or the beach. Would I bring my kid 5 year old to Hooters? No, but it’s more a food issue than a clothing issue.
