It is rare to find a person with no vices. There are so many options that might not be good for you and so many people who will find that not good option. Once again WalletHub has put together a study and ranking of the most sinful cities in America. They used 7 weighted categories to list the top 182 most sinful cities. Why did they stop at 182? Did they just have enough of seeing how sinful we all are? The categories are based from the 7 deadly sins. Envy/Jealousy, Lust, Greed, Sloth/Laziness, Wrath/Anger, Gluttony, Pride. Let's take a look at how high Philadelphia ranked among each of these categories to see how we locked up the number 3 spot. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say there is 1 or 2 specific things that most likely buoyed the city's ranking.
Anger and Hatred Ranking
Philadelphia was ranked two in this category which makes me think they took this poll after games 6 & 7 of the NLCS. They may have had Craig Kimbrel be the one to conduct the poll. If any of these are what happened then it's righteous anger! The ranking could be higher because of the shootings and murders though.
Jealousy Ranking
What do we have to be jealous about? Maybe some cities have had more successful sports teams, but that's about it? They base this off of thefts, identity thefts, fraud. Some theft lead to shootings...
Excesses and Vices Ranking (Gluttony)
This is based off obesity and fast food chains, smoking, drugs and debt. Not bad for a city with 1.6 million people. We came in at 44th.
Greed Ranking
We're close to plenty of casinos, but don't have enough casinos compared to the number of people in the city to place too high on this ranking. Philly came in at number 57.
Lust Ranking
Strip Clubs, searches for adult entertainment, teen birth rate! 11th. Good work guys... Philadelphia is lusty.
Philly is a big city. It's going to have it's issues and poor rankings making Philadelphia sinful. It's got plenty of great things about it. Overall for the 7th or 8th largest city by population in America most of these aren't terrible, but the shootings and murders are.
