The Best and Worst Easter Candy
WARMINSTER, PA - APRIL 18: Pink and yellow Marshmallow Peeps are seen April 18, 2003 in Warminster, Pennsylvania. Just Born, the manufacturer of Marshmallow Peeps, is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Marshmallow Peeps, and now produces more than one billion individual Peeps per year. Last Easter, more than 700 million Marshmallow Peeps and Bunnies were consumed by men, women, and children throughout the United States. Strange things people like to do with Marshmallow Peeps: eat them stale, microwave them, freeze them, roast them and use them as a pizza topping. Marshmallow Peeps and Bunnies come in five colors.
Easter is in a few days. Easter candy will be everywhere in your house. It’s already everywhere in stores. This morning on the show Matt said he was in Target and they had 4 aisles of Easter candy. Seems a bit excessive, but if people are buying it you have to keep it stocked. There is really good Easter candy, and really bad Easter candy out there. Allow me to give you my un-asked for opinion on some of the best and worst out there.
Best Easter Candies
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Eggs – The G.O.A.T. Just the perfect candy. Being a slightly oblong, egg shape, the ratio of peanut butter to chocolate is slightly different than a regular Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. It’s a better ratio, and this goes for all the special holiday “shapes” they have.
Starburst Jelly Beans – I will eat about 500 of these over the course of the next week and a half. I don’t even remember what jelly beans tasted like before Starburst got into the game. A purple one used to be licorice flavored? Eff outta her. Those are supposed to be black. Don’t sneak in a purple color for kids and have it taste like garbage.
Zitner’s Eggs – Some home cooking for a Philadelphian. Zitners Eggs are delicious. I’m not a huge coconut fan so i stay away from the coconut ones, but the Butter Krak eggs are bangers.
Ok let’s get to the garbage…
Worst Easter Candies
Peeps – All of them. Doesn’t matter the shape or size. Fresh out of the pack or sitting out on the counter for a week. Don’t like ’em. Don’t want ’em. They’re made in Bethlehem, so a relatively local company, but I just can’t do it.
Licorice flavored jelly beans – A sick joke the boomer generation is playing on younger generations. Acting like black licorice flavoring is actually good. The only thing worse is convincing an innocent child that they’re going to enjoy a box of Good n Plenty. Monsters.
Easter Candy Corn – You’re sick!
Cadbury Creme Eggs – They’re still running the same commercial that has been on since I was a child in the 90’s! I saw it run the other day and they haven’t even cleaned it up for HD TVs. Until they update the commercial, I assume all Cadbury Eggs were made in the 90’s too.
MGK has something to give you, but you can’t eat it. It’s concert tickets for the Big Gig. Got to the WMGK.com and find the hidden egg to win the tickets.

6 Eggs-elent & Easy Easter Leftovers Recipes
Now that it’s been a few days since Easter, you’re probably sick of eating Easter leftovers.
There are only so many meals that you can eat ham, potatoes, and eggs without feeling like Groundhog Day. So, why not dive into some of these recipes and make the most of your delicious leftovers? But before you dive into ham sandwich number 5, check the date on the package. Just how long will that ham last in your fridge?
Families all around the country celebrate Easter, Christmas and other holidays by making ham the star of the meal.
In fact, Americans purchase over 300 million pounds of ham over the holidays. Why? Well, ham is popular for celebratory meals because of its versatility. But just how long does ham last in the fridge?
That answer can vary, so we turned to the experts to weigh in before you make your third, fourth, or fifth ham sandwich of the week. As a general guideline, your ham will last for about a week, says the Arizona Cooperative Extension.
Both plastic-wrapped and vacuum-packaged hams must be refrigerated. A plastic-wrapped ham will keep about one week. A vacuum-packaged ham should be consumed by the “use by” date or within 1 week after the “sell by” date.
A traditional Easter dinner typically includes a ham or lamb as the main course, with a variety of side dishes. Some common side dishes include potatoes whether they be mashed, scalloped, or in a cheesy casserole (my favorite!), green beans, carrots, rolls, and salad. Desserts often include chocolate bunnies, jelly beans, and other Easter-themed treats.
Easter Leftovers
The recipes below include a lot more sides to add to your protein to make a delicious Easter leftover dinner your family will ask for again and again. Also, don’t forget a simple ham and cheese omelette is always a home run, too!
