TURKEYDROP 2022 hero

Last Tuesday, 11/22, was the annual Turkey Drop Broadcast and collection supporting City Team Philadelphia. From 6a-9a the WMGK staff was scattered throughout the Philadelphia, New Jersey, Delaware area collecting turkeys, turkey coupons, cash and checks to help feed families who might be struggling at the moment because everyone deserves to celebrate the holidays with a nice meal.

Going into Tuesday, we knew things were tough for more people this year than they have been in a long time due to the rising costs of, what feels like, everything. There was definitely some worry that totals might be down, and people just wouldn't able to donate as they have in the past. The goal of the Turkey Drop is always to help as many people as possible, and no matter what is the final number is, a lot of people are going to be able to have a good meal on Thanksgiving (and if we're able to raise enough that could carry right into Christmas dinner too.) The goal of helping as many people as possible wouldn't have been possible without the generosity of the WMGK listeners, businesses, local Unions, etc throughout the MGK listening area.

The 2022 Turkey Drop totals came in this morning, and we're happy to announce that thanks to all involved we were able to collect 9, 210 turkeys for City Team Philadelphia this year! That number actually tops last years collection by 70 turkeys.  Thank you to everyone who took part and came out to one of the many ACME locations in the area, stopped by the broadcast location at the Kimmel Center or made a donation online.  Every little bit helped City Team get the meals to families that needed them on Thanksgiving.
