I Ran Into My Old Boss at The 76ers Game on Saturday
It is not too often someone can say they were happy to run into a former boss of theirs over the weekend, but that is exactly what happened to me this past Saturday.
On January 28th, the Philadelphia 76ers were set to take on the visiting Denver Nuggets at the Wells Fargo Center, in what was deemed a rivalry game by the NBA due to the last two MVP races coming down to Joel Embiid and Denver’s Nikola Jokic.
Being that it was such a big game that was to air on national television, a ton of people were in the building to watch the battle.
One person, in particular, was in the house that was a familiar face.
That person was Pat Croce!
Pat is the former president of the organization, meaning he was my boss for several years!
He was running the show with the Sixers from 1996 all the way until 2001.
The team nearly won a championship under his watch when the 2001 Allen Iverson-led team made it all the way to the NBA Finals where they were ultimately defeated by the Los Angeles Lakers, who are remembered as one the greatest individual teams of all time.
The Sixers were actually the only team to have won a game on that Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant-led Lakers squad.
The Sixers were also the only team to leave the Wells Fargo Center with a win on Saturday as they defeated the Nuggets behind a monster game from Embiid.
I’m sure Pat was loving every second of that victory!
It seemed like he was enjoying himself hanging around with some of the players, including Tyrese Maxey!
It was awesome to see him again!
By the way, Pat is a great follow on Twitter!
He posts inspirational quotes every morning that will have you ready to get up and go each day!
This one was my favorite last week!
When you are enjoying a song, are you worrying at all? No! Then you are not essentially a worrier. “Stop thinking about tomorrow, the music is playing here right now.” #ShiHengYi

I’m sure some of you WMGK listeners can relate!
Anyway, Pat, you have to stop by for a game more often if the Sixers are going to play like that with you in the building!
