The John DeBella Show

John DeBella retired from radio on June 30th, 2023. Explore this archive of the most memorable moments of the John DeBella Show on WMGK.

A switchboard operator at work, circa 1945.

A woman on Tiktok @LiztheMusicManager put out a hack for people who don’t have the time to sit on hold when trying to contact a major company’s customer service line. If the hack works, it’s absolutely genius. What she says to do it when you get to the main menu you push 0# 0# 0# 3 times. She said about 90% of the time you should be connected to a real life human in 2 minutes. Click here to hear her explanation.

I one time sat on hold for 2 1/2 hours with an airline trying to cancel a flight to Florida right as COVID first started.  I was in hosting the best of JDB Show and was supposed to be heading down to Tampa for a bachelor party when Florida shut everything down (yes even Florida shut bars and stuff down at the beginning of COVID when nobody knew anything yet.) I left my phone on speaker the entire time I hosted the best of and finally spoke to a person about 8:55a. So this hack seems great if it actually does work. Liz in the video did say she was talking about major companies, so if you’re calling a mom and pop shop customer service you may not have as much success.

Or if you do get through and this is the customer service guy you get to speak with you may just have terrible luck:
