Sights From The Philadelphia 76ers’ Blue x White Scrimmage
Don’t look now, but the NBA season is quickly approaching, and the Philadelphia 76ers held their annual Blue x White Scrimmage over the weekend, and you know I was in the building!
As you read yesterday, on Saturday I participated in the Philly Bike Ride, which was amazing, and then I went over the bridge to Delaware to take in some preseason NBA action.
The Blue x White Scrimmage took place at Chase Fieldhouse in Wilmington — the home of the reigning G-League champion, the Delaware Blue Coats.
Not only is it the home of the Blue Coats, but it is the former home of many Sixers greats throughout the years, including Paul Reed, who many of you now know as B-Ball Paul.
There were plenty of supporters of his in the building, including my friend, Seth, who was wearing his Out The Mud shirt, which is B-Ball Paul’s brand.
The Blue x White Scrimmage itself saw the team split into two separate groups who would match up against each other — Team Melton vs. Team Maxey.
Team Melton consisted of De’Anthony Melton, Kelly Oubre, Paul Reed, Terquavion Smith, David Duke, Azuolas Tubelis, and Ricky Council IV.
Team Maxey consisted of Tyrese Maxey, Jaden Springer, Danuel House, Mo Bamba, Javonte Smart, and Filip Petrusev.
You might be thinking, where are guys like Joel Embiid and James Harden? Well, many of the names you don’t see were designated as coaches for the Blue x White Scrimmage.
The first scrimmage of two ended in a tie and team Maxey won the second game by two points. All in all, the guys looked great and I am excited for what they all will look like when the regular season starts in just nine days on October 26th.
The Sixers open the season against the new-look Milwaukee Bucks squad with one of the best duos in the league in Giannis Antetokounmpo and Dame Lillard.
I can’t wait for this upcoming season and to announce the team and games in front of many sold-out crowds at the Wells Fargo Center!
10, 9, 8, 76ers!
