The Sixers Get A Big Win, And My Niece Made A Big Shot
It has been a week full of big wins for our sports teams here in Philadelphia, and the best part is that they have come against our biggest rivals. On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Dallas Cowboys by a score of 28-23, and last night the Philadelphia Sixers defeated the Boston Celtics by a score of 106-103.
It was a huge win for your 76ers and an impressive win at that. Getting an early season win over the Celtics is huge because the team really struggled against them last year, and, as we all sadly know, were eliminated by them in the NBA Playoffs.
Although, the tone was different last night from the get-go, when WWE champion, Charlotte Flair, was the guest bell ringer!
The crowd was absolutely electric inside the Wells Fargo Center last night and the fans were into it during every possession. It was a true playoff-like atmosphere, and really fun to be a part of last night.
Joel Embiid scored 27 points while bringing down 10 rebounds. Tyrese Maxey checked in with 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds, which is impressive for a guard! Plus, Tobias Harris tallied 17 points and nine rebounds.
There were a ton of big baskets last night, but the biggest in my mind actually came after the game!
My best buddy, my niece Lily, got to go on the court after the big win and shoot one foul shot! And trust me, she made the most of it!
Lily is actually a partial season ticket holder for the Sixers, and is probably the biggest fan I know! In fact, she uses the money she makes from her job working with the Philadelphia Eagles to buy her 76ers tickets!
As a part of being a season ticket holder, the Sixers sales staff lets the season ticket members on the court after games to attempt a single free throw from time to time.
Well, last night it was Lily’s turn!
Like the true athlete she is, she stepped to the line and drained her attempt! It was awesome!
Maybe Kristaps Prozingis should take some notes!
Oh, and did I mention she is a Special Olympic champion as well?!
Overall, last night was a win on all sorts of levels!
Go Sixers and go Lily!
Lily's game face before her shot. As you can see, she is totally locked in!
My niece Lily preparing to shoot her free throw last night on the court. Whatever she did, it worked!
My niece Lily chatting it ups with Christian Crosby pregame. He is the best in-arena host in the NBA.
Joel Embiid at the scorers' table getting ready tp check into the game again in the 4th quarter. He came in and closed the game out for the win.
Paul Reed warming up before the game. He continues to improve his shot this season.
Former 76ers play, Jrue Holiday returned as a visitor last night. Many people attribute his trade from the Sixers as the start of the process era.
Sam Cassell made his return to the Wells Fargo Center last night. Joel Embiid looked in his direction after his big three pointer last night.
Brian Scalabrine, aka the white mamba. Many of you remember him from his playing days, but he now does TV in the Boston area.
This is the view all the players see when they take the court for each game.
Brotherly Love is painted on the walls on the way to the locker room. It is also the slogan on the front of the team's city edition uniforms this year.
I love this logo for the 76ers. It is a cool change of pace.
My script for the guest bell ringer last night. Charlotte Flair. She is the daughter of the legendary Ric Flair.
My pregame view before the game. I was watching my buddy, Tyrone Johnson, and The Best Show Ever, and reviewing each team's roster.

Philadelphia Sports Jersey Numbers: The Best To Ever Wear #1-99
Philadelphia sports fans will wear the jersey numbers of their favorite teams until they die. It’s why you’ll still see dated Jeremiah Trotter or Jon Runyan jerseys at a Philadelphia Eagles game even though they’ve gone through the washing machine one too many times to keep their original color.
Flyers fans aren’t above wearing an old Rod Brind’Amour sweater down to the Wells Fargo Center years after the centerman left Philadelphia. Some people are even creative enough to duct tape over top of a #11 Carson Wentz jersey to turn it into an A.J. Brown jersey.
However a fan chooses to do it, the jersey is a beloved part of the sports tradition. There are even Philadelphia sports jersey numbers that have become synonymous with a single number itself. Those are the obvious ones.
Eagles fans will certainly never forget, “#5 will always love you.”
Flyers fans can’t see the #88 without thinking of Eric Lindros. How many youth basketball players have chosen the #3 because of Allen Iverson?
What about the tougher ones though? Who are the best players ever to wear the #64 or #67? Wade through the thousands of players who’ve had the privilege of suiting up for the Phillies, 76ers, Flyers, and Eagles.
The Great Debate Over #20
The best Philadelphia athlete to wear #20 isn’t a fun debate. It’s not fair to ask 4-for-4 sports fans to choose between arguably the most beloved athlete in the city’s history and the best third baseman of all time. It’s just not an enjoyable conversation to have.
Brian Dawkins and Mike Schmidt earned the only tie from #1-99.
The Toughest Choices
Dawkins and Schmidt are the type of players who deserve their numbers retired. However, some debates run even deeper. There are a ton of respected players who have worn #8. Choosing between Phillies like Shane Victorino, Bob Boone, Juan Samuel, and Nick Castellanos is tough enough before you add Flyers fan favorites Mark Recchi and Dave Schultz.
None of them even made the list because it was impossible to keep local legend Aaron McKie off.
Let the debates begin. Which ones did we get right? Which ones did we miss? Check out our list of #1-99 (and #0 Tyrese Maxey for good measure).
