Dicky Barrett made his way to the MGK studio recently, and I could not have been any more excited.

If you ask me, there is not much better in this life than catching a live show with amazing music by a great band and catching up with an old buddy.

Well, that is exactly what I had the chance to do last Friday.

I got to see my dear friend Dicky Barrett over the weekend as he came to town with his new band called, The Defiant.

Dicky Barrett and The Defiant played a show at the Theatre of The Living Arts on South Street along with Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.

The show was incredible, and I’ll get back to that in a show, but first, let me take you back before the show!

Catching Up With Dicky Barrett...

On Friday morning, Dicky Barrett made a stop by our studios for an appearance on The Matt Cord Show With Steve Vassalotti.

After that, I brought him down the hall to our Beasley Media Group family down the hall over at our sister station WMMR.

He then hopped on to catch up with everyone on Preston & Steve.

They also have a history with Dicky that goes back to their days at Y-100!

Funnily enough, it's been just over 30 years since I first met Dicky Barrett back in 1993.

I met him when I was doing the Alt-Rock show on WMMR called Planet M. Good times!

At that time, he was in The Mighty Mighty BossToneS — one of my favorite bands of all time!

The Defiant...

Fast forward to today, and Dicky’s new band, The Defiant, puts on a hell of a show!

The band is like a supergroup of punk rock legends!

The Defiant is Pete Parada on drums (The Offspring), Greg Camp on guitar (Smash Mouth), Johnny Rioux on bass (Street Dogs), Joey La Rocca on guitar and keys (The Briggs), with Dicky Barrett front and center (The Mighty Mighty BossToneS.)

It really was an incredible show put on by both bands, so check out some of the videos I posted throughout this story!

It was so good to catch up with Dicky!

I got to introduce him to my wife Pattyann and they hit it off instantly!

It was such a great night.

If you get the chance, to check out The Defiant — don’t hesitate!

In fact, check them out right now! Here’s a performance they did on Jimmy Kimmel not too long ago!

Enjoy!

Dicky always signs autographs and takes pictures with fans after every show. A man of the people!
