The Mike Jerrick Roast Was Extremely Hilarious and I Was A Part of It
I got to be a part of The Mike Jerrick Roast, and it was a blast and such a fun day.
After my show yesterday on MGK, I drove over to the studios at Fox 29 to help roast my good friend, Mike Jerrick.
And believe me, while it was a ton of fun, it was definitely hard to roast such a good guy!
Mike actually just returned to Good Day Philadelphia and Fox 29 after a month off to recover from surgery to help take care of prostate cancer.
So, the good folks over at Fox 29 thought the perfect way to welcome him back would be to crack a couple of jokes at his expense!
And this, The Roast of Mike Jerrick was born!
The Mike Jerrick Roast…
The roasters in attendance included me, Jason Martinez (the co-anchor of the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 10 p.m., and 11 p.m. news), Sue Serio (a legendary Fox 29 weather forecaster), and Vince DeFruacio (the executive producer of Good Day Philadelphia).
Plus, Marc Summers, Dr. Mike, and Joe Conklin participated in The Roast of Mike Jerrick via video roasts.
With all of these hilarious people involved, I had to make sure I had some jokes that would make the people laugh.
My first joke was: “When Mike was born, his parents, the nurses, and the doctors all looked at him and agreed he was going to grow up and do amazing things… Then they all boarded the Mayflower and came to America.”
I think it went over pretty well!
Then my second joke was: “We are all here to roast one of the most accomplished, award-winning, gracious, humble, and the most trusted TV anchormen the city of Philadelphia has ever had… Jim Gardner!”
That one got a good laugh too!
Overall, most of the jokes were on the tamer side.
How could anyone actually be mean to Mike Jerrick — he’s one of the most beloved TV personalities this town has ever had, and you know what, we are lucky he is ours!
The Mike Jerrick Roast was a huge success!
