New Jersey Extras Needed: Netflix’s ‘The Whisper Man’ Starring Robert De Niro
A new casting call is looking for New Jersey extras to work as background actors in The Whisper Man, Netflix’s upcoming crime thriller. The show, filming from April through June, stars Robert De Niro and needs extras to play cops, reporters, and local residents.
The dark thriller brings Alex North’s 2019 bestseller to the screen. The story takes place in Featherbank, a fictional town, where a writer dealing with loss discovers his son has disappeared – a case connected to a disturbing serial killer from the past.
Non-union extras will make $181.50 for 10-hour shifts. SAG-AFTRA members will get $216 for eight-hour days. The show promises to follow all union guidelines and safety protocols.
Michelle Monaghan and Adam Scott round out the cast alongside De Niro. James Ashcroft is directing – coming off his intense 2021 movie “Coming Home in the Dark.” Filming will happen at various locations throughout New Jersey.
Anthony and Joe Russo are running things through their AGBO company. After buying the rights in 2018, this is their sixth project with Netflix.
The story follows a father and son who discover connections between a current missing kid case and dark events from 15 years ago. The story centers on a creepy killer known for whispering to children before taking them.
Michael Disco is producing alongside the Russos. They picked Ashcroft to direct after seeing his work on “The Rule of Jenny Pen.”
