Great Things Take Time

It took 10 years to get to the screen. There were issues with directors, actors and plenty more that caused delays in getting the film finished and ready for the big screen.

 

Sacha Baron Cohen and not Rami Malek was initially chosen to play Freddie Mercury.

Cohen was the initial choice but things didn’t work out, possibly because of Cohen’s reputation for being a prankster and an edgy comedian.  Rami Malek was chosen as Cohen’s replacement BEFORE Brian May and Roger Taylor met him.

 

Robert De Niro is one of the film’s producers.

De Niro has been producing films for years and this is another one he’s involved in. De Niro was also involved in Queen The Musical.

 

The kid from Jurassic Park, plays Queen band member John Deacon in the film.

Yes, Joseph Mazzello, the cute/rascal from Jurassic Park is now an adult and he plays the role of Queen’s bass player.

Mike Meyers continues his Queen connection in this film.

It started with the iconic scene in Wayne’s World – an continues with his role as EMI executive Ray Foster. Foster tells the band that ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ is way too long of a song to be a single.

 

They created an exact replica of the Live Aid stage for use in the movie.
