It took 10 years to get to the screen. There were issues with directors, actors and plenty more that caused delays in getting the film finished and ready for the big screen.


Sacha Baron Cohen and not Rami Malek was initially chosen to play Freddie Mercury.

Cohen was the initial choice but things didn’t work out, possibly because of Cohen’s reputation for being a prankster and an edgy comedian.  Rami Malek was chosen as Cohen’s replacement BEFORE Brian May and Roger Taylor met him.
