Don Lee Van Winkle Record Release Party Tonight!
Longtime Philly musician Don Lee Van Winkle (we know him and love him simply as “Winkle”) has a new record GREAT UNKNOWN and will be backing up its release with a performance and party tonight at Franky Bradley’s. Perhaps you go WAY back with Winkle to his American Dream days (were you at the MGK Earth Day concert at Fairmount Park many years ago when they played?) It’s been a fateful couple of years for Winkle and his family and the result has been this album. Here is the title tune for your listening enjoyment!
Sorrow, Soul and Serendipity: Don Lee Van Winkle’s Great Unknown
PHILADELPHIA, PA (July 11, 2019) – After the sudden loss of his wife in 2017, a happen-chance road trip to Nashville, TN & Austin, TX turned from a spur of the moment getaway into a fateful artistic labor of love. This meant-to-be-accident yielded the cathartic and impassioned construction of a set of newly written material that would eventually lead to Winkle’s third studio album, Great Unknown. This 10 song album battles through themes of loss, romance and a man’s unsure place in the world. Winkle’s lyrics are personal and packed with a genuine sense of long lived experience, yet his guitar playing stills exudes an excited and youthful passion. As softly introspective as it is loud and in your face, Great Unknown is surely a trip that all music lovers will enjoy.
Please join Winkle and his band at Franky Bradley’s (1320 Chancellor St, Philadelphia, PA 19107) on Wednesday, July 31st. Doors open at 7:00pm. Showtime is at 8:00pm. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door or in advance here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/winkle-album-release-party-tickets-64944494732

About Don Lee Van Winkle:
Don Lee Van Winkle was born & raised in Philadelphia, PA. An original member of the Todd Rundgren produced classic rock outfit, The American Dream, Winkle (as he’s known to friends and fans alike) has also had a prolific forty year solo career as a working musician and singer songwriter. From sharing the stage with the likes of such legendary acts as The Who, Jefferson Airplane, Elton John and The Doors to collaborating side by side with close friends Charlie Ingui of the Soul Survivors and David Uosikkinen of the Hooters, Winkle’s heart has only grown and his creative drive has never diminished. Like the title of the classic Buddy Holly song, some true rock & rollers do “Not Fade Away.”
