Bomb Bomb in South Philadelphia is a Must Try Restaurant
As I wrote in one of my posts last week, I attended a concert by The Cure at the Wells Fargo Center and they absolutely put on a hell of a show. I, along with a couple of my buddies, Jim Sutcliffe of Live Nation, and John Brazer, the Director of Fun and Games for the Phillies, left the show very impressed with what we saw!
But that was not the only thing that impressed us that night.
Before we headed down the stadium complex, we made a stop at a great restaurant in South Philly called Bomb Bomb, and it was one of the best places I have ever gone in the city.
It is kind of a hole-in-the-wall type of spot – somewhere I would definitely consider a hidden gem, so I figured I would share it with all of you!
First, let me start with the staff because they make you feel like you are right at home, even if it is your first time there, so that is always very important!
Of course, I can’t forget to mention the food and you better believe that was dynamite as well!
From the mussels, ribs, chicken parm, and fried calamari, all the way to the best crab cakes I have ever had, Bomb Bomb delivered on each item we got at the table. Oh, and they had amazing wings too!
By the way, make sure you save a little bit of room for some ice cream cake because they have that on the menu for dessert!
The prices on everything are great too, so it would be perfect for a night out.
If you do plan to make a visit to this fantastic restaurant, just make sure you consider Ubering because street parking can be a little tricky with no meter-parking on the street and very limited spots opening up.
But trust me, do not let that scare you away, this place is well worth the visit!

Here's to the Legendary Radio Career of My Friend, John DeBella
A Radio Legend Signs Off…
All good things must come to an end.
The same can be said for all great things, and as a matter of fact, it can be said for all legendary things as well.
And that is exactly what happened today.
After 41 years in Philadelphia radio, the iconic John DeBella signed off for the last time on the airwaves to the greater Philadelphia area.
John spent many years right here at WMGK and I am sure most of you remember his time with WMMR, where he pioneered the morning zoo format in morning radio — which a lot of successful shows still on the air today were born from.
When you think of Philly radio, JDB is definitely on the Mount Rushmore of radio personalities — if not the very first person you think of.
John has been honored for his great career many times over the years like being inducted into the Philadelphia Music Alliance Walk of Fame earlier this year, but nothing can really be put into words or really anything tangible for what he has meant to so many listeners in this amazing city.
But you don’t have to take my word for it, just look at some of the fans that showed up in the parking lot of our studio today to wish JDB a happy retirement, including John’s long-time friend, Dave Magrogan who owns all the Harvest Restaurants!
If you didn’t hear his final send-off today, you have to go seek it out and give it a listen. It was a tear-jerker, for sure.
I was honored to be mentioned in his final words on radio and it is something I’ll never forget.
John, thanks for the many years of entertainment, but more importantly, the many years of friendship.
In the movie, The Sandlot, there was a quote that went, “Heroes get remembered, but legends never die,” and the legend of JDB will forever be immortalized in Philly radio and all the people’s lives he’s reached with his voice throughout the years.
Now go enjoy your time in retirement!
