Philly Area Enters Yellow Phase: What’s Open and What’s Not
COVID-19 has had us cooped up for a months. After long last, the Philadelphia area is finally moving into the Yellow Phase of the re-opening plan. But what exactly does that mean? What’s open? What’s not?
Per 6ABC, the stay-at-home order is now lifted for these counties: Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lehigh, Northampton, Montgomery and Philadelphia. If you live outside of the city, gatherings of no more than 25 people are allowed, but maintaining social distancing and frequent hand-washing are both a must. Within the city limits, gatherings outside the house are still discouraged. Pennsylvanians can see a detailed re-opening plan here.
Should I still be working at my kitchen table?
In short, yes. Telework must continue where feasible, and companies must provide proper protection and sanitation for their essential employees who are doing work at their place of business.
What if I’m craving food from my favorite restaurant?
Restaurants may open outdoor dining today (June 5) but not in Philadelphia. City restaurants will have to wait a week to seat their customers, but takeout and curbside pickup are still allowed. Limited outdoor dining can begin in Philly next Friday, June 12th.
Can I get a haircut?
Not yet. Indoor recreation, gyms, spas, hair and nail salons, plus all entertainment (such as casinos and movie theaters) remain closed.
When will we move into the Green Phase?
According to 6ABC: “If overall risk remains mitigated for fourteen days, the county will transition to the green phase. The green phase would see large gatherings of more than 250 people prohibited and allow in-door dining at 50% the restaurant’s capacity.”
What about New Jersey and Delaware?
New Jersey will enter Stage Two of its plan on June 15 – more on that here. Delaware has a “rolling re-opening” plan – get the details here.
