Bryen OBoyle Is One Of The Most Talented Cover Musicians Ever
Is there any combination of three things better than running into an old friend, seeing live music, and being down the shore? Well, that is exactly what I was up to over the weekend!
While visiting North Wildwood on a nice weekend in September, I ran into an old buddy of mine, Bryen OBoyle, at the Lazy Bass Bayside Bar and Grill! By the way, a little side note, going down the shore in September is super underrated.
Bryen OBoyle is easily one of the most talented musicians you will ever see, and he can sing just about any song ever recorded — and that is not an exaggeration, he is that good!
He used to be the frontman for a band called Mr. Greengenes, which is a legendary cover band from the Philly and shore area for many, many years. Luckily for all of us in the area, they still get together to play from time to time for a few reunions.
Anyway, on this night specifically, I had Bryen OBoyle play a couple of requests for me, including “Cold Bev” and “I76” by G. Love, and Bryen did an unbelievable job with both! Actually, on second thought, I can believe how great his covers were because he always does an amazing job with every cover song he performs!
Funnily enough, back when I used to do the p.m. drive show on Y100 from 1997 through 2005, Bryen OBoyle would frequent the station and play live on-air. Of course, he has to mix in some G. Love into the mix as well!
Every Friday, “Cold Bev” by G. Love was played at 5 p.m. preceded by G. Love telling everyone, “It’s time to celebrate, it’s Friday at 5, so let’s grab a cold bev” on tape! It was a great way to start the weekend.
If you have the chance to see Bryen OBoyle live, definitely hop on that opportunity because you’ll have a great time! Check him out on Instagram here!
