Minor League Baseball Team Changes Name To ‘BruceClaws’ Because Jersey
That seems to be the case, as minor league baseball team the Jersey Shore BlueClaws (Philadelphia Phillies High-A affiliate) will become the Jersey Shore “BruceClaws” once again in their annual tribute to The Boss. They will transform into the BruceClaws for their Saturday July 23rd game at ShoreTown Ballpark in Lakewood against the Brooklyn Cyclones, a New York Mets (booo) High-A affiliate.
The BruceClaws will hope to be on fire as well, outfitted in Springsteen-inspired denim style uniforms which are cutoffs for the first time ever. Springsteen tribute band Asbury Fever is set to play and the “Born to Run … For Beer” promotion will feature participants running three laps around the field while grasping a beer! The winner will receive a prize package that includes a medal, ceremonial first pitch, and the chance to ride in for the game with BlueClaws mascot Buster on the back of the Toyota World of Lakewood Claws Crewser.
This is the 14th year the minor league team is doing this promotion, and a nice appetizer for any local fans who are excited to buy tickets to Springsteen’s just-announced tour, which will start selling tickets on Tuesday July 26th.
“We can’t wait for another BruceClaws Night, always one of the best and most popular nights of the year,” BlueClaws team president Joe Ricciutti said in a statement. “The Jersey Shore’s hometown team honoring one of the Jersey Shore’s hometown legends – you can’t beat that!”
