The 1st Loss is the Deepest
Well that didn’t take long. About 8 hours before the start of MNF I posted this asking if a loss would be a good thing for the Eagles. I didn’t really think it mattered, and after that loss last night I think it does matter. That was important for that team to get punched squarely in the mouth. While it was happening I didn’t think it was important. Here is a list of things I said to my TV and 2 week old sleeping daughter (she wasn’t very invested in the game):
“What are you doing?! Get a good stop and rough the kicker? My god!”
“Yea! Great job D.”
“Hurts QB sneak is unstoppable!”
“Man, Jordan Davis being out is killing their run defense.”
“What are we doing? Why are giving the WRs a huge cushion?”
“Come on, get a stop on 3rd down!”
“Someone make a god damn tackle!”
“Alright, barely been on the field and up 14-7. That’s good.”
“OK, quick drive down he field, get a FG, get the ball back after half and turn it on.”
“WTF was that? :30 seconds and give the ball back?”
“This feels like one of those games.”
“Alright Smitty, Birthday touchdown! Should’ve bet that.”
“Here we go. Better team starting to show up.”
“How the F do you miss that facemask!!” “Shhhh, shhhh, shhhh. It’s ok, daddy’s got you” *I woke the baby*
“Why wouldn’t you accept the penalty? Back him up. He’s already made a 58 yard kick tonight.”
“Yes!!! Quez!! No!!”
YOU CANNOT MAKE THAT CALL THERE. EAT THE FLAG. IT’S TAYLOR HEINICKE, NOT TOM BRADY!” Bullsh*t
“Dammit. This sucks!”
Getting punched in the face will help this team the rest of the season. Let’s be honest with ourselves, they’re going to lose again, maybe even 2 more losses. It’s the NFL everyone is good. If they’re going to take a dump at midfield again at some point this season the least they could do is make it a Sunday 1pm game so we can move onto more football or dinner. Anticipating the game and another win all Monday long only to have to watch that makes the loss worse.
