Pigskin Picks Week 16
Ugh, 0-3 for the first time this season and I feel gross. The Vikings clearly should have never been down the way they were before completing the largest comeback in NFL history, the Eagles game plan was atrocious (and also led to a Jalen Hurts injury), and the BUF/MIA game was a coin flip. That’s the only loss I’m alright with.
As I write this I’m surrounded by the slowest moving and possibly whiniest 6 year old I’ve ever met. A 3 year old who I thought was past his fever and stomach bug, so I took him to Nifty Fifty’s and let me tell you Nifty’s smells WAY better on the way into the mouth than out of it. Tough couple days here at the Vassalotti house, but it’s about 20º outside, and their is a dusting of snow on the ground with the christmas lights on. That’s pretty amazing! Happy Hanukkah or Merry Christmas (whichever your celebrate) and Happy New Year to you and your families. Let’s win some games!

LAST WEEK’S RECORD: 0-3. OVERALL RECORD: 16-12
Detroit at Carolina (DET-2.5) Saturday 1pm
This team continues to not be the old Detroit Lions. HC Dan Campbell has this team on the rise and they’re a fun offense to watch. They are still fighting for a playoff spot, and it isn’t outlandish to think that they get in. They’re currently on a 3 game win streak and have a realistic shot to finish the year on a 6 game win streak, which probably gets them into the playoffs. This week they face a Carolina team that doesn’t have a ton. They’re 2nd in the pathetic NFC south and aren’t eliminated from the playoffs yet (thanks to the crap division they play in) but this week the Lions will put a serious dent in the Panthers playoff hopes.
Pick – Detroit
Cincinnati @ New England (NE -3) Saturday 1pm
Don’t look now but Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals are on fire. They have won 6 straight and are only 1 win back of the #1 seed in the AFC playoff picture. It took a bit for Joe Cool and the Bengals to get it together after their Super Bowl loss last season, but they’ve figured it out at the absolute right time. Too many weapons clicking at the right time even for a Bill Belichick team to handles. Bengals roll.
Pick – Cincinnati
Eagles at Cowboys (DAL -4) Saturday 4pm
Not much here, but I’m going out on a limb because I have a feeling. It’s happened before in Dallas, but on Christmas Day when Jeff Garcia went in as a backup QB and beat the Cowboys. Tis the season for Minshew Mania and what could be a better Christmas present than the Birds clinching the #1 seed in the NFC. The crew over at 33rd team football had a great quote from Dinner for Schmucks, but attached it to Gardner Minshew.
Philly's Week 16 QB1 has never heard the doubters 😤

If Minshew actually quoted Dinner for Schmucks Eagles by a million. Even if he didn’t, I have a sneaking suspicion they’re going to pull this thing off in Dallas. I’ll accept being wrong, but dammit I’ll never bet the Cowboys against the Eagles. Not to cover, not to win, No. Nothing. Never! I’ll take the Eagles to cover the 4.
Pick- Eagles
Go Birds! Merry Christmas!
