Angelo Cataldi Stops By The Matt Cord Show With Steve Vassalotti
As all of you loyal listeners of The Matt Cord Show With Steve Vassalotti know, we have been the morning drive show on MGK for about four months now. We are still in our beginning stages, so we figured we would get some advice from a guy who ruled the morning show landscape in this city for 33 years — Angelo Cataldi!
It was such a thrill to have Angelo Cataldi stop by our studio the other day to chat about his new book titled, “LOUD.”
By the way, I would totally recommend you read his book — even if you are not a sports fan — because there are tons of fantastic stories about his career in it that anyone would find fascinating.
Angelo Cataldi put sports radio on the map in our fine city and really knew how to engage the listeners and sports fans alike.
He became the voice of the Philadelphia sports fans with his great storytelling skills and genuine passion as a sports radio talk show host.
As you can imagine, Angelo had a lot to say, so we decided to record a 40-minute podcast where the radio legend discussed a ton of stuff.
If you are interested, you can hear the whole thing on our website!
We talked with Angelo about everything from Al Morganti, Rhea Hughes, Cindy Webster, Keith Jones, former Pennsylvania governor, Ed Rendell, Tony Bruno, Wing Bowl, Taylor Swift, Steven Singer, Sea Isle City, and so much more!
So if you’re interested, be sure to check that out, and don’t forget to pick up a copy of “LOUD.”
Oh, and I can’t forget, our friend, Alison Dunlap, did the cover shots for the book! If you remember, she did our first photo shoot at a show as well!
What are you waiting for — go listen to the podcast and get a copy of the book from that 6’3” center from Columbia University, #1, Angelo Anthony Cataldi Jr!!!

Matt Cord's Top Five Journey and Def Leppard Songs
If you were not tuning into The Matt Cord Show With Steve Vassalotti yesterday — and if you weren’t, then what the heck else were you doing — then you may have missed a big announcement that we made involving Journey and Def Leppard!
Steve, Eric Johnson, and I made the official announcement that MGK is bringing both Journey and Def Leppard to Citizens Bank Park this summer on July 23rd, 2024!
Plus, The Steve Miller Band will also be coming to town in support of the two iconic bands.
What could be better than two legendary bands coming together to perform on the same tour in the best city in the world?!
The only thing I can think of is having two legendary bands coming together to perform on the same tour in the best city in the world, and the best classic rock station in the world being involved as well!
If you listen to the station regularly, then you know that both Journey and Def Leppard play on our airwaves daily. If there’s one thing you can count on, it’s that you can hear those two legendary bands on all of MGK’s playlists.
Well, now you have the opportunity to see all those classic songs live this summer.
Tickets go on sale next Friday, December 15th, at 10 a.m., so mark your calendars.
Oh, and I can’t forget to mention that you will have plenty of opportunities to win free tickets through the station.
So keep that dial locked onto 102.9 WMGK all weekend long for your chance to win some free tickets!
Plus, we will have tickets all of next week on The Matt Cord Show With Steve Vassalotti, so make sure you tune in bright and early so you don’t miss out!
I can’t wait for July to roll around to see both Journey and Def Leppard put on a show!
But in the meantime, take a look at my top five songs from each band below!
