Eagles Most Creative Play Was A Special Teams Play
Over the last month we’ve slowly watched as the Philadelphia Eagles have lost their mojo. Completely lost it. Where has it gone? It left when all creativity and adjustments left the offensive Coordinator’s headset. Over the last 2 weeks the Eagles most creative play was a special teams play. A punter had the most creative play called for them! Desperation play call from a 10-2 (now 10-3) team who has been getting their butts whooped the last 2 weeks. It’s got everyone in Philly scratching their heads.
What is the problem with the offense? Let’s see, what’s changed since 2022? Hurts, Brown, Smith and Goedert are all still here and playing at a high enough level. The offensive line is the same. The difference is Brian Johnson. It’s his first year as the offensive coordinator, but woof. I can’t believe I’m writing this about a 10-3 football team, but something has to change in terms of play calling. It’s not because they’ve lost the last 2 games. It’s how they lost the last 2 games. The offense looks completely dumbfounded. By sheer talent alone they were able to come back and win the 2 games against Buffalo and Kansas City. There just doesn’t seem to be anything creative coming off that sideline at the moment.
Teams hit speed bumps throughout the season. It happens, but it feels much better when it’s spaced out a bit. It also Hurts that it is happening at a point in the season close to the playoffs, against 2 conference opponents. Last year they looked shaky around this same time, but that was because Jalen Hurts was out. It was Minshew Mania for a couple weeks before the Eagles finally locked up the 1 seed in the NFC. Could we be witnessing the same speed bump as last year? It doesn’t feel the same. The team is relatively healthy right now. They just are playing like crap and Brian Johnson isn’t doing anything to make the offense any better. Fingers crossed they figure something out before it’s too late.
