First, grow up. Second, shut up. A restaurant owner has warned it’s staff about Eagles fans who may be making the trek out to Arizona to watch their Eagles team curb stomp the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 57.
Not sure what the restaurant is (also don’t care), but the owner Bob Mayo alerted his workers to a few things that are definitely true about Philadelphia Eagles fans:
1. “They are very passionate and love their sports and teams.” Correct.
2. “will be here to bask in the moment.” Damn right we’ll be basking!
3. “Blue collar, hardworking people.” Yes.
That seems completely reasonable right? Yea, problem is those words came after Bob did the name calling. He did go out of his way to cushion the blow for any staff members who may be former Philadelphians by saying, “if any of you are from Philly, please don’t take this the wrong way”. How very Ricky Bobby of you Robert, ‘Now I say this with all due respect….’ Cmon Mayo! He went on to say “Philly fans are some of the most obnoxious and rude fans in the country.” That is hurtful Bob.
Sometimes we need to be aware of our truths, and maybe we are a bit rude and/or obnoxious, but that is in the parking lot and/or the stadium for a game. We don’t go into random restaurants looking for some opposing team’s fans to fight. We aren’t chanting A-hole at the bartender. Eagles fans won’t give one of your waitress the double bird because she put onions on his bourbon steak when he specifically asked for no onions! We might be passionate Eagles fans, but we’re still human beings. The people making the trip to Arizona are there for a good time with family and friends, and they spent a damn lot of money to be there.
Now, Bob, if your restaurant is inside the stadium this is a different story entirely. You might hear a couple A-hole chants if they see a person in KC jersey, but remember that’s only because they had 13-15 beers in the parking lot, while basking in the Arizona sun, getting ready watch their team bring home the Lombardi for the 2nd time in 5 seasons! If you’re just a regular food and drink establishment in Arizona, you’ve got nothing to worry about. Toss on the midnight (or kelly) green and hop aboard the bandwagon. I promise it’s a lot of fun. We’re a very welcoming fanbase when you’re on our side.
Go Birds!
