Jerry Seinfeld Was Hilarious At The Met in Philadelphia
Over the weekend, we had a chance to see one of the greatest comedians of all time, who also has one of the most syndicated shows ever made named after him. If that alone did not give it away, we saw Jerry Seinfeld on Friday night!
Jerry Seinfeld is easily one of my all-time favorite comedians, and his show on Friday night did not disappoint.
The show took place at The Met in Philadelphia, which has been reopened for a few years now after undergoing a total renovation. If you haven’t seen a show or a concert there since it was redone, I highly suggest getting down there at some point because it is awesome!
As for the show itself, it could not have been funnier! The thing I love about Jerry Seinfeld is that he rarely repeats old routines, so every time you see him, it is a new show!
His observational humor about the absurdities of life is just so clever. On Friday night, he touched on people’s obsession with their phones these days, which was hilarious. By the way, unlike most other comedians, he couldn’t care less whether or not you bring your phone in during his set, which is pretty cool!
It was pretty funny during his set when he mentioned the first time he performed in Philly was at the Bijou Cafe — a legendary venue and club that used to be on Broad and Lombard. If you’ve been keeping up with my posts, you saw me write about it a week or two ago about my friend Larry Magid’s exhibit that is open right now!
At one point, someone yelled out “Go Phillies,” and Jerry Seinfeld replied, “How exciting for Phillies fans this time of year being in the playoffs, you’re excited and scared to death all at the same time… kind of like my job!” That got a rise out of the crowd, for sure!
He also mentioned his new movie coming out at some point next year titled, “Unfrosted: The Pop Tart Story.” The movie will be released on Netflix and focuses on two cereal titans, Post and Kellogg’s, going to war in 1963 to create a market-altering product.
All in all, I had a blast Friday night, and if you ever get the chance to see Jerry Seinfeld in any capacity, you should definitely leap at that opportunity!
