Eagles Emphatically get to 11-1. Who Saw It Coming?
The Eagles are 11-1. That’s insane. Did you see this coming? I didn’t see 11-1 happening, but I did think they’d be a pretty good football team and challenge the cowboys for the NFC East. In no way did I see them having a shot at getting the 1 seed, let along running away with it.
Going into yesterday’s game it seemed as if there were more than a few talking heads on TV who thought the Titans were going to ram the ball down the Eagles throat and walk out of the Linc with a win. Nobody mentioned that to both the Eagles offense and defense. The offense went off, even after shooting themselves in the foot way too many times with penalties. The defense absolutely shut down one of the most dominant running backs in league history holding him to 30 yards rushing and held the entire Titans offense to 209 total yards. The Eagles more than doubled that putting up 453 yards in a game that they might have put up 50 had the offense not slowed itself down.
Yesterday also makes you realize how good AJ Brown really is. ‘Swole Batman’ is the best receiver the Eagles have had since Terrell Owens. It’s not even close. Alshon Jeffrey was good, AJ Brown is great. It’s been obvious all season how important he was to Tennessee’s offense. You know who knew how good AJ Brown is? Titans head coach Mike Vrabel. Just look at his reaction to the AJ Brown trade on draft night this past April. That’s a guy who knows what his team just lost.
11-1 is nice. Each time the Eagles were 10-1 in their franchise history, they went to the Championship. Most recently in the 2017 season when they won their first Super Bowl. there is a lot of football left, but you’re looking at a team most likely hosting every playoff game they have this season. Home field advantage throughout the playoffs is what helped propel the 2017 team to the Super Bowl and I think the 2022 team is better and the home field advantage is even more apparent with the crowds this season at the Linc.
Exciting times are ahead. Go Birds!
